Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, ATCC 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (ATCC 30-2020) to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 3 X 105 cells/mL and maintain between 2 X 105 and 2 X 106 cells/mL.

Freeze medium: Complete growth medium supplemented with 5% (v/v) DMSO

YAC-1 is a lymphoma which was induced by inoculation of the Moloney leukemia virus (MLV) into a newborn A/Sn mouse.

The cells are sensitive to the action of natural killer (NK) cells and are useful in assays of NK cell activity.
